Nigerian singer Burna Boy is set to make history at Apple Music Hall in London on October 29, becoming the first African act announced for the new 600-capacity venue’s inaugural concert programme.

Apple Music Hall, located inside Battersea Power Station, will open on September 28 with a performance by Elton John. Burna Boy is scheduled to take the stage on October 29 as part of the venue’s first run of shows, which also includes Baby Keem, Skye Newman, Troye Sivan, Arlo Parks, Chase & Status and Charli xcx.

The new Apple Music venue was announced by Apple earlier this week as a dedicated live music space designed for intimate performances. The 600-capacity hall features a 38-foot-wide reconfigurable stage and a 48-speaker Spatial Audio system, while two recording and mixing studios allow performances to be captured as multitrack recordings and produced in Spatial Audio.

Apple Music Hall is also equipped for multicamera production and global livestreaming, allowing artists to perform for a small London audience while their shows are captured and shared with listeners and viewers elsewhere. Apple said the venue is designed to combine the intimacy of a small concert with production facilities associated with much larger live shows.

Burna Boy’s October performance extends his existing relationship with Apple Music. The Nigerian Afrobeats star previously headlined an Apple Music Live concert at London Stadium in 2023, with the performance released as Apple Music Live: Burna Boy. He was also selected as an Apple Music Up Next artist in 2019.

His appearance at Apple Music Hall will place him alongside Elton John and other international acts selected for the venue’s opening programme. The first show will take place on September 28, with Burna Boy’s October 29 performance marking the first appearance by an African artist in the currently announced schedule.
