Kizz Daniel has revealed that the death of his mother was the reason he took a break from music earlier in 2026, correcting assumptions that he had stepped away to focus on his forthcoming album.

The Nigerian singer disclosed this on Friday, September 25, 2026, while responding to a fan on X who suggested that preparing his new album had kept him away from music.

“I paused for my mom, not an album,” Kizz Daniel replied. “Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family … sorry I came late this year.”

Kizz Daniel had announced plans to release two albums in 2026, Radio Gidi and Uncle K, but his first official single of the year, “Owo Oluwa,” arrived on September 16.

“Owo Oluwa” features Young Jonn, Krizbeatz and Wave Choir and serves as the lead single for Radio Gidi, which is scheduled for release on October 16, 2026.

The album is expected to feature collaborations with Seyi Vibez, Fola, BNXN, Young Jonn, Shatta Wale, Qing Madi, Mannywellz, Tinie Tempah and other artists.

Kizz Daniel’s latest explanation comes more than a year after he previously announced a break from recording. In June 2025, the singer said he was stepping away from the studio to spend more time with his family after they complained that he was choosing music over them.

At the time, he said he had more than 600 songs he wanted to release before eventually retiring from recording.

The singer has also previously spoken about losing members of his family. His father died in 2015, while one of his triplet sons died in 2021. In 2025, Kizz Daniel discussed those losses while explaining the inspiration behind “Al-Jannah,” a song from his Uncle K: Lemon Chase EP.

With “Owo Oluwa” already released, Kizz Daniel is now preparing for the October release of Radio Gidi as he resumes his 2026 music campaign.
