Toyin Abraham rejects APC campaign council appointment, explains why

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported appointment to the Lagos State APC Campaign Council, saying she was not aware of her inclusion and has no interest in politics.

The actress was listed as a member of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the campaign council alongside other entertainment personalities, including Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright.

However, the actress took to her Instagram Story on Thursday to distance herself from the council.

She later explained her decision after an X user suggested that she rejected the role because of online bullying.

“Bro, I didn’t do it because of any bully. I did it because it was the right thing to do. I woke up and saw my name on a list I knew absolutely nothing about. Moreover, I’ve already said it—I’m not interested in politics,” she said.

The development comes despite Abraham’s name remaining on the published campaign council list.

The actress had previously faced criticism over her support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, but she made it clear that online backlash was not the reason for her latest decision.
