Odumodublvck’s lawyers petition police over alleged arrest attempt

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck’s lawyers have petitioned the Lagos State Police Command over an alleged attempt to arrest him at a Lagos nightclub on August 29.

The legal team, in a petition addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos State Police Command, said there was no outstanding arrest warrant against the rapper and that he was not a wanted person.

The lawyers also said Odumodublvck, whose real name is Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, had consistently responded to legitimate police invitations through his legal representatives.

The petition follows a confrontation between the rapper and police officers at BOHO nightclub in Lagos in the early hours of August 29, after his performance at the venue.

A video from the incident showed an officer telling Odumodublvck that an invitation had previously been sent to him and questioning why he was not following the officers.

The officer also asked the rapper if he was resisting arrest. Odumodublvck, however, insisted that his lawyers had already responded to the police invitation. He argued that the officers could not take him away and referred to a court order, which he said prevented his arrest.

The officer disputed his position, saying the police had not received the alleged court order.

According to his lawyers, the incident requires an urgent investigation, particularly because they said several police commands had been involved in investigations relating to the matter.

The legal team also cited ongoing proceedings before an Abuja Magistrate Court and said the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit was already handling the matter.

The petition comes amid an ongoing legal dispute involving Odumodublvck and fellow rapper Blaqbonez, following allegations made by Odumodublvck against him earlier this year.

Blaqbonez has denied the allegations, while his legal representatives previously threatened legal action against Odumodublvck.

As of Monday, August 31, the Lagos State Police Command had not publicly responded to the rapper’s lawyers’ latest petition.
