Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has honoured his late friend and colleague, Mohbad, three years after his death.

Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. Marking the third anniversary of his death on Saturday, Bella shared a message in remembrance of the singer, ending it with the words, “Woe to evil doers.”

Bella and Mohbad were close friends and had collaborated on several songs, including “Pariwo” and “Money.” Their musical relationship was also reflected in Bella’s tributes to Mohbad following his death.

Bella previously honoured Mohbad with his 2024 EP, R2 Sept 12, a project whose title referenced the date of Mohbad’s death. The EP included “1999,” featuring Bloody Civilian, among its tracks.

Bella had also previously spoken about the effect of Mohbad’s death on him. In a 2025 interview, he said his life changed after Mohbad died, describing the experience as having “reset” his brain.

Mohbad’s death generated widespread public attention in Nigeria, with the circumstances surrounding it becoming the subject of a police investigation and continued public discussion. His music also experienced a sharp rise in streaming activity following his death.
